What's Happening

2025

Throughout the year the Leadership Team developed a plan for replacing the aging Puckett Creek Bridge. Originally, we hoped to move the new bridge site upstream, but complications introduced by the Corps of Engineers resulted in the decision to place the new bridge next to the existing one.

In September, the owner of the property through which the Upper Purple and Upper Yellow trails course notified the Stewards that he was selling his property to a real estate developer. Preliminary work was done by the developer on the site, temporarily disturbing the trails. The trails were repaired in the fall. Ultimately, however, once development resumes, the upper portion of both trails will have to be rerouted. Planning is underway to undertake that task.

In 2025, the Stewards initiated a "Fourth Saturday Work Day" program. As the name implies, the fourth Saturday of each month has been designated as an official work day. The purpose is to provide both the Steward Leadership Team and the invaluable Stewards who support the trails a regular schedule by which to conduct trail maintenance activities.

  • December - The biggest focus in December was construction of the new bridge. The new site was leveled and footings poured.

  • November - White Trail improvements, Purple Trail swamp reroute

  • October - White Trail improvements

  • September - Kiosk improvements

  • July - Orange Trail flooding and hog damage repairs

  • June - trail clearance - Green, Orange, White, Purple

  • May - trail clearance, Purple Trail bridge improvements
